On September 5, 2024, the annual meeting of the Sino-Africa University Alliance Exchange Mechanism was inaugurated at the Beijing International Conference Center as a supporting activity of the 2024 Sino-Africa Cooperation Forum Beijing Summit. The theme of the meeting was “Development of Sino-Africa Higher Education Cooperation in the Digital Age.”
Attending the opening ceremony were Wu Yan, Vice Minister of Education of China; Edith Delphine Emmanuel Adouki, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Technological Innovation of the Republic of Congo; Zhou Yu, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Higher Education, Chinese Director of the Sino-Africa University Alliance Exchange Mechanism, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Ramatu Lai Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education of Sierra Leone; and Yusupha Touray, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Technology of The Gambia, who all delivered speeches.
During the meeting, a major achievements release conference on Sino-Africa education cooperation was held, during which the China-Ghana Port Protection and Development Joint Laboratory project, hosted by Professor Zheng Jinhai from the team, was selected for inclusion in the “Collection of African Higher Education Cooperation Cases in the Sino-Africa University Alliance Exchange Mechanism.” This project, led by Hohai University in collaboration with the University of Cape Coast in Ghana and other institutions, aims to continuously promote in-depth cooperation between China and Africa in education, research, and cultural exchanges, contributing wisdom and strength to the construction of a high-level Sino-Africa community with a shared future.
