On August 19, faculty members from the Port and Coastal Engineering College of Hohai University, including Vice Dean Zhang Wei and Professor He Rui, conducted research at Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. The meeting was attended by Qi Le, Deputy General Manager of the Ocean Engineering Institute of Shandong Institute, Wang Yong, Deputy Director of the Ocean Engineering Technology Department, Wu Yongtu, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Hydrology Department, and Zhang Jile, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Ocean Engineering Department.

Qi Le welcomed Vice Dean Zhang Wei and his team on behalf of the Shandong Institute. He expressed hopes for collaboration between Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. and Hohai University in areas such as scientific research and development, talent cultivation, and the application of new technologies. He provided a detailed overview of the development history and talent training at Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., emphasizing the potential for collaborative efforts to leverage each party’s strengths and promote coordinated development.

Vice Dean Zhang Wei expressed heartfelt gratitude to Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. for its support in advancing the college’s various initiatives. He highlighted the advantages of the Port and Coastal Engineering College in scientific research and development, talent cultivation, experimental bases, and faculty strength. The college places great importance on industry-academia collaboration and aims to establish new avenues for cooperation in talent cultivation, research collaboration, and technological innovation. The college will continue to encourage more students to engage in national engineering projects and looks forward to further partnership in high-quality, innovative research collaboration.

Professor He Rui introduced research topics related to key issues in offshore wind turbine foundations, covering areas such as fatigue prevention, resonance effects, scour monitoring and repair, seismic resistance, noise control, and the construction of wind turbines in rocky seabed regions. He proposed solutions and ideas to address systemic challenges such as scour effects on turbines, high costs, and environmental impacts, aiming to fully unleash innovative potential and provide “Hohai experience” for corporate research projects.

Following this, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on industry development prospects, research collaboration, mutual learning and visits, as well as talent introduction and cultivation. This meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen the connection between both parties, broaden channels for talent cultivation collaboration, and promote the integration of research and communication, thus supporting the comprehensive development of education, technology, and talent.
