From April 24th to 27th, 2023, Associate Professor Jian Shi of the team led doctoral candidate Lipeng Zhang and postgraduate Zhe Zhang to the beach near the Fuxin Fishing Port in Rizhao to conduct on-site experiments on shore based by 3D LiDAR nearshore wave observation.

In this on-site experiment, the CH32 LiDAR and Gopro camera were fixed to the beach using a 3m high square steel pipe bracket, and near-shore wavefront radar point cloud data and video image data were obtained. At the same time, pressure gauges were arranged vertically along the coast according to the corresponding threads of the radar to obtain pressure sensor data. The purpose of this on-site experiment is to verify the waveform, wave direction, and climb measurement capabilities of the shore based 3D LiDAR. The waveform verification includes wave surface verification, wave reconstruction, and single wave tracking. The wave direction verification includes direction verification and direction spectrum verification. The climb verification includes comparison of radar and video image results, as well as comparison of measured and formula calculated values. This experiment obtained valuable on-site measurement data, laying a solid foundation for conducting on-site application research of 3D LiDAR.
