From November 10th to 13th, 2023, team professors attended the 8th National Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for Ship and Ocean Engineering in Harbin.

The conference was organized by the Steering Committee of the National Conference on Ship and Ocean Engineering CFD, the Ship Mechanics Academic Committee CFD Group of the Society of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of China, and hosted by Harbin Engineering University. The conference was co-sponsored by China Shipbuilding Magazine, Journal of Hydrodynamics, and the National Key Laboratory of Hydrodynamics. The conference aimed to provide an academic exchange platform for Numerical and Theoretical Methods in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), Autonomous Software and Industrial Applications, Complex and Biomimetic Flows in Marine Structures. It aimed to promote the high-quality development of research on ship and ocean engineering CFD methods, software, and applications in China. Over 430 participants, including experts, professors, young scholars, and graduate students from more than 40 universities, research institutes, design institutes, and enterprises across the country, attended the conference.

The conference featured eight thematic sessions, including Numerical and Theoretical Methods in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), Autonomous Software and Industrial Applications, Complex and Biomimetic Flows, Computational Hydrodynamic Scale Modeling, Fluid-Structure Interaction in Marine Structures, Intelligent Fluids and Applications, Multiphase and Cavitation Flows, and Coastal Engineering and Wave Mechanics. Academician He Guowei of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was invited to deliver the keynote speech. There were six invited presentations and 126 presentations in parallel sessions. Professor Xue Mian, Professor Sui Titi, and Teachers Li Haoran and Xiong Weipeng attended the conference. Professor Xue Mian delivered an invited presentation titled “Research on Liquid Tank Oscillation and Its Control and Utilization Mechanism,” Professor Sui Titi presented on “Fundamental Theory and Fine Numerical Simulation of Wave-Bed-Structure Interaction.” Professor Xue Mian was invited to serve as the session chair for the “Coastal Engineering and Wave Mechanics” thematic session. Colleagues engaged in enthusiastic discussions and in-depth academic exchanges during the conference.
